Valid IDs for the civil service exam: the CSC's own list

The CSC accepts 21 kinds of ID for the civil service exam, from a driver's license and passport to a barangay ID, a school ID and the PhilID, including the paper ePhilID. The list below is the one attached to Examination Advisory No. 17, s. 2026, dated 6 October 2026.

The ones people get wrong

  • An LTO receipt on its own is not an ID. The CSC accepts it only together with the old driver's license it replaces.
  • The paper ePhilID counts. The CSC accepts both the printed ePhilID, whether or not it is laminated, and the PVC card. A digital National ID on your phone is accepted subject to verification through the National ID Check facility at everify.gov.ph.
  • Not every PhilHealth card qualifies. It has to show your name, a clear picture, your signature and your PhilHealth number.
  • A TIN card needs a picture. The CSC lists the ATM-type TIN card with picture, and the Digital TIN ID subject to verification.

Which one to bring

For claiming a Certificate of Eligibility, the advisory asks for the original ID, preferably the same one you presented when you filed your application, and if that is lost, another ID from this list that has not expired. Following the same habit on exam day is sensible: bring the original of the ID you applied with, and check it has not expired.

The CSC states the exam-day reminders in its school-assignment advisory for each sitting. For the 22 November 2026 reset, it will post that advisory on its website no later than fourteen days before the examination. Read it before the day; if it differs from anything here, it is the one to follow.
